MacBook Pro M3 Unreal Engine installation fails with IS-IN-PL02 (Path too long) even with short install path

Hello,

I am trying to install Unreal Engine on my MacBook Pro M3 using Epic Games Launcher, but the installation keeps failing with the error:

IS-IN-PL02 - The installation path you are trying to use is too long

I already changed the install location to a very short path like:

/UE

and also tried:

/Applications/UE

but the same error still appears.

My previous MacBook Air M2 installed Unreal Engine without any issues, but on this MacBook Pro M3 it keeps failing.

Current environment:

  • MacBook Pro M3

  • Internal SSD

  • APFS (Encrypted)

  • Enough free storage space available

  • Latest Epic Games Launcher installed

I also tried:

  • Clearing Epic Games Launcher cache

  • Reinstalling the Launcher

  • Checking Full Disk Access permissions

  • Restarting the Mac

but nothing solved the issue.

Has anyone experienced the same problem on M3 Macs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
