I am new to the UE4 and at first sight: wow you get a lot with the engine.
My MacBookPro specs are:
2,8 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 204
OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks)
After working with the UE 4.5.0 for 2 days the engine crashed more times than I would like. Each time sending the reports hoping it would be picked up and quality can be improved. Sometimes the engine just hangs and is not responding resulting into having to kill the process. I am just following the tutorials which are great. A lot of times if I try and do something out of context it results in a crash. It just seems that the Mac version is not up to the quality I expected to work with. Looking at this page https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Oculus_Rift it seems that support for Mac version is underway. Which tells me the Windows version the prime focus of Epic.
Now my question:
- What are the experiences of other Mac users using UE4?
- Shall I just use the Windows version instead?
To close of with a positive note:
I really like the UE4, tutorials, documentation,… and I see myself creating a lot with it
