M1 Max MacBook Pro and 2023.1 Preview

Hi, there is a stark difference in the 2023.1 Preview with the new laptop I just got. 2023.1 is unusable as the grass / landscape renders very poorly. Almost black. I can adjust it to make it look ok but it means blasting the rest of the scene out. No good.

Note, on the 2020 intel iMac this is not an issue with 2023.1, just the new laptop. I was hoping for an improvement in performance and got the opposite. I'll use 2022.2.3 which seems to work fine with the new M1 Max chipped computer. I'm open to suggestions on how to fix this, but settings alone doesn't seem to work.

Hi ,

This is a current known issue that seems to be present when running Twinmotion 2023.1 Preview 1 on Apple Silicon-based Macs (M1 processors, M2, etc.) and macOS Ventura. Neither Ventura, nor Apple Silicon are supported by Twinmotion at this time, so we recommend using Twinmotion 2022.2.3 if you are on a machine that experiences this issue until we officially support the OS and hardware.

Best,

Raghib

Please also advise us as to when Datasmith will be supported and available for Archicad on Apple Silicon M1 Ultra. I have found that Twinmotion, itself, runs quite fast on it, but I have to do an awkward workaround involving an older computer and Dropbox each time I want to sync. Sort of defeats the whole purpose of a one click sync, don't you think?

Thanks,

Mark

Since Twinmotion 2023 is not 100% supported on M1. Would it be possible for me to purchase TM 2022 once TM2023 is release? Really hope for TM2023 to be fully supported on Apple Silicone soon. Thanks

Hi

I'm about to buy a new Apple Studio M2 Max with 12‑core CPU and I would like to know if it's compatible with which version of Twinmotion.

Now I have a macbook pro and I use to use the 2023 version and seeing the comments I'd like to know if buying this new computer I gonna have to use the 2022 version ?

Thank you in advance

Hi ,

When you buy a Twinmotion license, it includes all versions of Twinmotion between Twinmotion 2020.1 up to the current version of Twinmotion, so you will have access to Twinmotion 2022 and 2023.

Regarding a timeline on M1/ARM support for Datasmith, this should be released as a plugin update at the end of Q1.

For M1/Arm support for Twinmotion, this is expected to take a longer, so it won't be ready for Twinmotion 2023.1 and will release in a later update.

Best,

Raghib

Hi ,

Twinmotion 2023.1.2 now supports Apple Silicon, so M1 and M2 CPUs should not cause any major issues as before. You should be able to use all latest and all future releases with the new Apple Studio.

Best,

Raghib

Thank you ... wonderful !

Would it be enough for twinmotion tu run very well with these caracteristics :

  • Apple M2 Max with 12‑core CPU, 30‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 32GB unified memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • Front: Two USB-C ports, one SDXC card slot
  • Back: Four Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, one HDMI port, one 10Gb Ethernet port, one 3.5 mm headphone jack

Heya, I have the exact laptop as you have just shared. I use TM for all my projects and its a pretty smooth experience. No bugs whatsoever, however please keep in mind the lack of pathtracing and support for 3dconnexion devices. Here's a screen recording of a pretty heavy file. Keep in mind that this was built on TM 2022 and was converted to 2023 upon opening it with the latest version - as I can see this isn't creating any problems. The white geometry is just missing textures due to the fact that I currently don't have access to a hard drive that has these textures.

Thank you so much for sharing with your esperience.

I'm relieved to see that what I've just done is a good investment.

I ordered it in the US and the price difference with Europe is quite significant.

I can't wait to receive it and use it.
