Lumen, Nanite and low-spec target machines

I’m working in 5.2. I want my project to be runnable on low-spec machines - not necessarily old, but commodity hardware typically used by non-gamers.

Should I avoid Lumen and Nanite? UE5 seems to really want me to use Lumen and most literature claims Nanite is more performant than LODs. I gather that both technologies are moderate resource hogs but it’s unclear if their higher requirements extend to the packaged product or if it’s just a concern during development.
