Hey there.
Apologies if this is not the correct place to post this, I have seen this issue cropping up all over the place but not seen many people connecting the dots. It appears that Lumen GI just does not work on Z1E handhelds such as the ROG ALLY/ALLY X and LEGION GO. I noticed it in a few games to begin with then started noticing a few people mention dodgy lighting in various games in various Rog Ally groups. Always in UE5 games. so i started installing UE5 games to see exactly whats going on and I can confirm Lighting is affected in pretty much every UE5 game I’ve tested.
Here are a few examples. All these screenshots the settings are matched but as you can see on the Z1E something is seriously up.
Still wakes the deep on Desktop Nvidia GPU
Still wakes the deep on Legion GO same settings
RoboCop Rouge City Desktop GPU Medium settings
RoboCop Rouge City Rog Ally Mediums settings
Black Myth Wukong desktop gpu
Black Myth Wukong same settings Legion GO
This is just a few examples from what we have gathered every UE5 game exhibits the bug to some degree on the Z1E unless you can turn Lumen GI off. Seeing a lot of people complain about it in silent hill 2 in the rog ally facebook group it looks quite bad in that from what I’ve seen but I don’t have that game yet to take my own screenshots.
Digital foundry did release a video over a year ago showing that the steam deck had the exact same bug when running on windows. I’m not sure if this was eventually fixed on the steam deck but appears to be same bug.
Anyway. I’m posting this in a few different places as I’m not sure if this is a UE bug an AMD driver bug or ultimately who would need to fix this but in just trying to make people aware in the hopes it eventually gets to the right people.
Thanks.
