Low Poly Content for VR

This is only a request for those whom love to create and sell products. We all know VR will be commercially released next year and some people don’t know exactly what types of poly count is needed in models for games in VR. I have seen many great assets by the UE4 Marketplace community. And I have seen a lot of products that have great LOD’s and I have noticed that some products have Low Poly count in the LOD 3 which would suit VR (Mobile standard). you could create another pack which will suit VR with the assets you already which will create more sales for your products plus help more people to know what works with VR and what doesn’t.

I can’t wait to see what products you release.

I actually had a package that on it’s first submission was declined because it was too low poly. Tho, even after I increased the poly count they still declined it because they didn’t think there was a market for it. Since then it’s been selling on Sellify like hot cakes but that’s another story. Not sure what their rules are regarding low poly but I’d recommend that before any authors do attempt something like what is being requested they first check with Epic. Cause like I said, I’ve had a package denied for being too low poly.

I think Epic would want the seller to at least try it on a device, EG android (mobile). Just look at the infinity assets, they are low poly but are optimized for mobile and work well for VR. Also for those whom have Landscapes and want to sell them too for VR. I have notices that, If the file setup for the landscape is done in tile form it helps with optimization. here is a video of multiple RAR files that will tile the landscape, it works like level streaming large open worlds.

I have been thinking of putting together a low poly prototyping pack, just tons of low poly assets to help people start building and testing their games, or use in products if they are going for that low poly style. I also noticed a lack of it in the marketplace, but now I’m wondering if what Nightasy said has something to do with it. Does Epic see Low-Poly as Low-Quality I wonder?
