An NVME M.2 (Fast hard-drive) which the engine and project is running on. All components are 3-4 years of age now.
I am having some issues running Unreal Engine 5 on a stable 60FPS. I know my hardware is getting outdated year by year, but I am surprised at how low it is. I am currently running the Content Examples project with the Animation map where my FPS is around 35-40 FPS and around 24 ms. The game is using Lumen and settings are set to Epic.
Looking at the task manager view my components are at around:
GPU at 18-22%
CPU at 14-20%
RAM at 25-33%
My question is: Is the task manager reliable to view the usage, and why is the engine not using more of the resources available?
Here is a screenshot. The FPS seems a bit more stable today, however there is no change in the number of applications running since the previous screenshot, only that I restarted my computer, which was done for the previous screenshots as well:
Soo what I can see is that your GPU is maybe on the “lower” end for this scene(the red numbers are from tabbing out and back in, I mean the numbers on the left). When you look at my scene I have a few more FPS with this:
Core i7 4770K
24GB Ram
1080 TI
Just looking at the values you can see that GPU is very high for you and also the VRAM. I can later check with my Laptop what it will do with this scene.
Thank you very much for this information! I know my hardware is getting worse and worse by the year, and this gave me some form of relief. I’ll see what I’ll do in terms of GPU!
