I just started UEFN today, spend 7-8 hours working on a map and building, then my game suddenly froze. Then crashed. WHen I re-opened my project EVERYTHING was gone and still is, I’m kinda panicking sorry if its a simple fix I am honestly devastated.
Hi @Jinx8520 !
I can understand how frustating this must be, I’m here to help!
Have you tried checking the Autosave files?
-
In your project folder there should be a folder named Saved, and inside that folder another one named Autosaves, which contains some autosave files. Try opening those files in UEFN.
-
There is also a Backups Folder located in the saved directory. Please try opening any of those files to check if your map is there
Usually when UEFN crashes you’ll get a prompt when you re-open the editor asking to recover last session. If the option appears please make sure to accept that.
Please remember to always enable Aurosave in the editor preferences.
Let me know if this helps you restore your project.
Where would I find the autosaves folder? I also cant find the saved folder for backups…
C:\Users(me)\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Autosaves (nothing to open)
- just leads to a folder maze of numbers and letters
- cant find backup folder
Remember to always click Check-in Changes after any amount of work you don’t want to have to redo, this creates a snapshot that is saved online with Unreal Revision Control.
