I’m a full-time Fortnite UEFN creator, and I recently lost an entire project after using the Check-In feature through Revision Control.
The project was named ALLGUNSPITFFAGOAT, and now it is completely missing from my UEFN library. The synced project folder still exists on my computer, but I can’t open or recover the map anymore.
This map had over 10 days of work, and I had recently checked it in before closing UEFN — after that, it vanished.
I am requesting help recovering this map or understanding if there is any way to re-link the synced files or retrieve the last working version.
Also, if recovery isn’t possible, I would appreciate support in boosting visibility of my other maps — I’m a full-time creator but currently getting very low impressions and exposure despite consistent work.
Hello @VarunMaddila ,
I’ve been looking into it and, in theory, yes , if the synced project folder still exists on your computer, and you were using Unreal Revision Control, then it is possible to recover your project. The system automatically saves snapshots (backups) of your project every time you do a Check-In. So if that folder is still there, there’s a good chance you can recover it.
But before we get into that, let’s go through a few basic steps to rule out common causes.
First, on UEFN’s startup screen, make sure your project isn’t archived. Also, if you were working within a team project, click where it says “My Projects” and select the appropriate team to see if your project appears there.
I’m also leaving you a post where they talk about this topic, it might be helpful to you
And if none of the above works or your project still won’t load, I recommend following this video step by step , it shows how to Restore Backups on Unreal Engine Fortnite: history:
Hey @VarunMaddila, I’m Garren from the URC team at Epic. Reading your report, it sounds like it may stem from this issue with the project browser that UEFN was experiencing the last few days and was resolved today https://x.com/FortniteStatus/status/1945491721846198783, in which case you may need to “BROWSE” for the copy you have on disk as @BRGEzedeRocco suggested.
In any case, I’m reaching out to you on discord to try to help you triage the issue further to see if we can help you recover the work you’d backed up.
