Lost All My UEFN Project Data After Formatting PC

I work with map creation in UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) and had been developing several projects that were nearly complete. However, I had to format my PC recently due to severe performance issues.

After reinstalling both UEFN and Fortnite, I attempted to open my projects again. While the project names still appear, all of them are completely empty — no content, assets, or Verse code remain. I always saved my progress regularly, so this was very confusing.

I reached out to Epic’s developer assistant AI, and it informed me that using “Save” only stores files locally on the computer, whereas using “Check-In” uploads the changes to Epic’s online servers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of this distinction and never performed a Check-In on any of my projects.

As a result, I have now lost all my maps and all associated Verse code. I can no longer continue development or publish updates, and this has been incredibly frustrating.

Is there any way to recover these files? Perhaps through an automatic backup or any server-side restoration options available via Epic?
