I was working on a 3D model in Vectorworks 2022 linked to Twinmotion 2022 through a Datasmith direct link. I had to make a change in the 3D in VW and turn off some layers. When I turned the layer back on VW and went to the TM these layers had lost their assigned material.
When I deactivate the layers for a better modeling these layers lose their materials in TM. Any solution?
It would be interesting not to lose the properties of the layer or objects.
This was a bug that should have been fixed in our 2022.2 release, if you're using a previous version of Twinmotion. If so, please donwload the enw version and see if this still occurs.
If you are using 2022.2, please make sure that the model isn't syncing when you're disabling the layers in Vectorworks. If the model syncs when a layer is disabled, Twinmotion will receive information that the layer no longer exists, so the objects in the layer, including the assigned materials, are deleted. When the layers are reactivated, Twinmotion will view the objects in the layer as new entities, and won't associate the previously applied materials with them.
If the above doesn't seem to solve the issue, please submit a bug report here so that this can be investigated further by our support team.
I have the exact same problem with TM 2023 and Vectorworks 2023. , is there a known workaround at the moment to prevent that issue? For example, closing TM before making changes in VW etc.? Is this a bug within VW or TM?
Many months have passed and still no response, fix, temporary solution, anything? I get it that devs work on most used integrations like with Revit or Archicad, but there are a lot of people that use Vectorworks and have to suffer with texture problems like I do. Please help me twinmotion dev, you are my only hope!
I am also experiencing this issue still with both 2022.2.3 and 2023.1.2. Assigned materials are also lost when turning classes on and off between syncs... Has this issue not been resolved yet?
