Hello! I started using UE5 to make a Zelda Oracle remake for the Switch using a style similar to the LADXHD and EoW style. Where can I find assets for that? I’ve seen games built using UE5, but the stuff they use seems to not be in the default UE5. Where can I find them?
The short answer is that stuff like this is normally made by hand as opposed to being publicly available
How do you make assets by hand? I cannot find a tile creator or anything similar in the UE5 menus
Nintendo is very protective with their intelectual property (to the point of obsession).
Unless you will be making this for your own entertainment and use (no distribution), you will sooner or later get a cease and desist letter from a nintendo rep.
A word of advice, use this energy for your own project.
If you had permission from Nintendo your would have access to the needed assets.
Basically, you take one of the default static meshes (an cube works well) and use the default modeling tools to mold it into an rectangle and shave off the unnecessary bits until it looks like an sword. As for adding several materials to it, since you’ll likely want the hilt to be an different color, here’s an quick video on how to do so.
Just bear in mind that the more polygons that an object has the more precise that this part would be.
For the stabbing part…That’s an separate headache that I’ll leave you to deal with. Every once in an while, there’s an free asset pack pops up in the marketplace that actually has this feature. In fact, there was one that was available two months ago? But anyways, there’s quite an few series on YouTube that does an deep dive into that kind of stuff
But more importantly, as the other person said IP laws are an thing and Nintendo will do whatever it takes to protect their content from copyright infringement; so you can’t use this process to recreate some variant of the Master Sword and use it for commercial use.
