Looking for a texturing specialist.

We’re working on an interesting product. It’s a series of kits containing modular blocks to simplify level design in Unreal4 and other engines. Right at the start, we prefer to have a nice looking demo level instead of just a scene with default materials.

So we’re looking for a texturing expert, who’s fit in Substance, to provide our blocks with photo-realistic PBR materials.
We would start with simple stone materials for walls, streets and buildings. Then we extend to more interesting kits like spaceships, sci-fi interior panels and the like. Later on we will have modular organic kits with more extensive texturing.

You need to understand modular level concepts, reuse of materials and working strictly organized, because we’re talking about 1000s of items.

Royalties
Our idea is to give you a share of 10-30% depending on experience until a limit is reached.
The limit would be based on your hourly rate x your invested hours x 2.
Does this sound fair?

Hi rotwang, just a question or two.

What are the objects, how complex are they? I feel that creating the substances is at least 50% of the product you are producing. If you simply want photo-scan materials with basic PBR attributes, that would be a lot easier than Substances made from scratch that simulate realism i.e a simple brick material can take quite a long time.

Hi Djinghis, I hear you.
Actually, the first kits will be really simple shapes, nearly primitives, but coming in a range of variations.
Meshes on their own will not be complex because the idea is to assemble complex objects out of those simple blocks (think LEGO).

There are some pretty good free-to-use textures out which could be used, so not everything would need to build from scratch.
So the main work for the first kit would be unwrapping of simple shapes and fit them into a modular concept.

As an example, think about a room with walls and floor. You woud have different sized walls which fit in a grid.
They have holes for windows and doors. The blocks are designed to use as is, they are not meant to scale, so the
textures are based on the unit size and all blocks can be combined how you like.
