Okay, as the title says, I’m looking for programs like Daz and Poser.
The main reason I use Daz is because it ability to allow you to save morphs for a base character model, and you can save that morph to the program so you can dial it in.
My problem with Daz is there *** backwards HD-asset stuff and the inability to import rigged and weight mapped figures into the program; you are forced to redo that work inside their own program.
Poser is similar to Daz, just costly, and I’m not too sure if you can import rigged figures into that program or not.
I heard of MakeHuman, but I’m not sure what that program’s limits are.
We use Makehuman to create our prototype character models.
The models are anatomically correct as far as proportions, so idealized characters such as Daz and Poser create are difficult to achieve. As long as you are happy with realistic body shapes, then MH would be suitable for you.
For the most part, the models from MH lack clothing (some basic sets are available) so you would have to make clothing separately.
There are some quirks to getting the models to work in UE4 (animations, in particular).
I would want to use my own models, not the awful looking default model MakeHuman uses. Can I import my own models into MakeHuman without needing to re-rig and redoing the weight map?
Does MakeHuman also has a means of measuring sections of the models? Like in Daz (with a plug-in) you can loop it around the hips and get an accurate sizing of the body part. And MakeHuman does allow you to save morphs, correct? That’s the one thing I need, that’s why I even use Daz.
As far as I know, you can’t import your own models into Fuse, which is what I need with a program. I need to be able to import a model, save it, and import crafted morphs for that given model.
I’ll have to look into it. Poser allows it (no plug-in needed). Being able to use a morph and check if you are giving a character realistic measurements. Which is why the Daz models never bothered me, I just messed with the morphs to get the bodies to look less doll-like.
I really do want to move away from Daz because they refuse to allow the average customer to make use of their HD tech they built into their program.
I just don’t understand why they don’t allow people to import models and save them. That defeats the purpose if they’re trying to create a free alternative of Daz and Poser.
Likely ease of implementation, I think it’s a lot easier to have a pre-rigged model and let people modify it than it is to program to allow importing and still allow the freedom to change the model afterwards. n this isntance I believe it’s a one man development and he’s concentrating on other features currently.
That being said I agree, for my purposes I’d be more looking to import the face as one body under clothes looks the same as another to my mind. But same principle applies
