Quick context: Started working on world building a game idea about a year and a half ago. I started in Unity, and then switched to Godot when my computer could barely even handle unity. I recently finally got a new computer and began working in Unreal. My idea is called the Indiana Project and it’s mostly a lush walking simulator with light adventure/quest ideas and a tension/horror backdrop. No jump scares, nothing cheesy, much more alone feeling and tense feeling is the idea, like a new age Myst meets Firewatch or something. (I have much more specifics and have already begun writing, message me if interested, as well as pictures/video!)
I have taught myself and refined the game idea into something I am excited about and I think could work great. The main huge issue is that I’m mostly computer stupid, so I have zero knowledge of coding and or programming at all. I know that a million people want to get into game development because “they have the best idea ever” and want someone to make their game. I really don’t want that at all, the world I am building is quite pretty if I do say so myself so far, and the things that I can handle/add to the game are building the world, writing the game, handling the voice actors/acting, and the music. What I cannot do is code, program, optimize and all the smart and important things that are vital to making something of quality and making everything work in the world.
I do want to learn these things as well, and have been dipping my toes in, but I don’t think my skills in the time frame will be worthwhile to justify the idea, and I never really intended to be a lone wolf, I just don’t know anyone that makes games. I love the idea of a partner, as this is just a passion projects and if it did become anything more I would surely love to split any profits more than fairly with someone cool, I just want to make something awesome.
Apologies if this is way long, just figured might as well not waste peoples time and give details up front, thank you all!
