Hello there,
I hope this is the right place to ask. I’m a Product Designer (UX/UI) looking to transition into the video game industry. I’m not aiming to become a game designer or developer, but rather to contribute as a UX/UI designer working closely with development teams.
Many job descriptions in the game industry mention Unreal (or Unity) as desirable knowledge for product designers, and I’d love to find a beginner-friendly course or learning path to help me get familiar with the basics.
My goal is to:
- Better understand how Unreal Engine works.
- Learn how my designs (solutions) will be brought to life in a game environment.
- Improve collaboration with game designers and developers.
- Know how to hand over assets and design specs in a way that works well with Unreal workflows.
To be clear: I don’t expect to design directly in Unreal, but I’d like to speak the same language as the rest of the team and understand the context my work will live in.
Any suggestions for courses, documentation, or tutorials aimed at non-developers would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance
