Looking for 3D modeller

Hello forum!

My name is Christian Haase, I’m 21 and from Esbjerg, Denmark.
I recently started working with Unreal Engine 4(.9), and still consider myself relatively new.
I’m currently working on a fun spare time project, in which I’m spending a good amount of my time as I find UE4 extremely strong, fun and easy.

I tried creating a few models using Blender, but as I don’t have any experience in 3D modeling (and the appropriate methods), and thought I’d give it a shot, and see if I can find someone in here.

What do I need?

Let’s me just start by saying that everything needs to be as low poly as possible, so I trust that you know your ways to create low poly assets.
Here are some examples of what I need:

  • Nature assets (rocks, trees, bushes, etc.)
  • Various props (crates, barrels, tables, etc)
  • Building assets (houses, factories, etc.)

Let me emphasize that I need a lot of nature assets, and various props.

Payment?

You will not be payed during the period you decide to work on this project as it’s a spare time project (You’re bored? Create some models )
With that said, I don’t expect 500 models from you each and every day. I simply expect something

As this is a spare time project, you are welcome to leave whenever you want, but if you create assets that are going to be used, your name WILL be mentioned in any reference to the project, and the assets you’ve made.

What kind of game?

That’s the question that always bother me… You want the simple answer? I don’t know
It doesn’t say much, I know, but nothing is planned at all, we simply create something together and then we’ll see what we end up with.

One thing I can say for sure though: It’s and open world RPG!

Here’s a few screenshots of what has been made so far:

Landscape (Mountains, very much WIP)

WIP Forest (Need new trees and grass)

Table made with Blender (Need new and better)

Dirty scorched bed made with Blender (Need new and better)

Quick note:

I’m currently setting together a Word/PDF for the entire of Unreal Community, on how I make various things (The terrain using World Machine, Materials, Textures, etc).
These notes will of course be given to you if you require so.

I hope to hear from you soon!

A friendly suggestion, if someone is bored and they want to create some 3D models they’d rather do it and put it up on the marketplace for sale. Why would they be sending you free stuff?

In context to that, the proper question would be, what has one got to gain by working with you? Can you convince someone who might be interested in collaborating; (like me) that working with you could have other benefits?

The next thing is, where do you want your game to be in the next 5 years? Are you looking to commercialize it? Who will be your target player base? What makes it any different from the host of other indie open world projects out there?

Unpaid sounds great!

Thanks you for your feedback.

What can one gain from me? Experience working with 3D modeling software. As I’m still new to UE4, I don’t expect anyone to be an AAA game artist. This project is simply a chance for people to learn more about 3D modeling tools, architecture, cooperation, etc.

Why would they send me free stuff? Why not? I see many unpaid threads in this forum, if people simply don’t want to work for free, no one forces them. I work on this for free, and perhaps someone would like to join a fun experience in a fun team, with other fun people. As mentioned, this is a spare time project, which basically means that fun comes above anything else.

Where will this game be in the next 5 years? Great question. I don’t know. We’ll have to see what we can create together. As long as this experience is fun, why not give it a try? If someone wants to contribute, they can. If this game ends up being a success (and perhaps earn a nice revenue), ALL names of everyone in the team, will be in that game, and of course we’ll split the revenue equal to what one has contributed. If this game doesn’t end up being a success, well, you might have learned someone new using Maya, Blender, Zbrush or something similiar.

As I also mentioned in the main thread, people can create, let’s say 3-5 models, and then they actually don’t find the project that fun. If this is the case, one could provide me with their assets (and their name), or they can simply request to have their assets back.

It’s all up to the decision of you not me. I’m simply looking for a few helping hands, that might want to have some fun.

But again. Thank you for the feedback, and I apologize for any misleading information

No need to be sarcastic. If you’re not interested, you have no need to comment on this thread
