Just started working with UE 5.0.3. I’ve attempted to load a couple of maps downloaded from the MarketPlace, one of which was “Automotive Winter Scene.” In both cases, it took more than 20 minutes for the map to load. It was stuck on “Loading” / “Opening Editor…” for most of that time. I have a reasonably fast Windows 10 system. Is this normal?
Could easily. You have to compile all the shaders before you can see the map. It will only do it the first time.
Depending on your rig ( and the map, some are absurd ), it can take anything from 10 mins to hours.
Ok. Thank you. Just looking for a “sanity check”. Wasn’t sure if it was something I was doing wrong or something wrong with my system or setup. Sometimes people come back and say “Oh, just clear your cache” or “Just disable this or that”. Stuff like that. Sounds like what I’m experiencing is normal. Thank you.
No worries. Some market assets can take 1 hr on a high end machine. Also, basic stuff can take as long on a unpowered rig, so there’s no really hard guidelines.
If you start the task manager, and unfold the unreal process, you’ll probably see a lot of ‘shader worker’, then you know it’s ok
