Live Link VCAM: Display won't update

Hello everyone,
I’ve wanted to setup like in the title VCAM, my PC (UE 5.0.1; Win 11) and my IPhone (13 Pro; iOS 15.4.1) are connected, but the screen of my Phone doesnt update. I can see on UE that the Touch Input is working but it only displays the first image. The app still shows 30 FPS and 7MB/sec, the log doesn’t have any information which seems to be relevant to this.
Im running out of ideas how to fix this, if anyone has a solution I am happy to try it
Thanks in advance

One possible fix - Go into project prefs ? and set for 8 bit display instead of 10bit

I’m having very similar issues. Plug-ins are enabled, and the virtual camera seems to be semi working. The VCAM app will connect to an UE 5.01 session, and the user interface shows up on the iPad and is actually mostly functional (I can select things in the viewport, change my camera field of view, f-stop, etc.).

However I cannot choose the iPad as a message bus source under the live link panel.

Both devices are in an internal wireless network (192.168.1.x) with no restrictions on TCP or UDP connections. The log on the VCAM app does not suggest that it’s having any issues, and if I bring up the joystick controls I am actually able to translate/rotate the camera in the engine viewport.

This seems to be a problem with the 5.0/5.01 version of this plugin. I suspect that the translation, and rotation controls that should be coming from the iPad‘s camera are not working because I cannot select the message bus source, and therefore cannot enable the transform plug-in for the virtual camera actor.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I could try next, I much appreciate it! Thank you.

After trying many different things I finally got it working:
The VCAM live link seems to be the problem, I have repeated all the setup steps with the Unreal Remote 2 app and it worked nearly flawlessly, the only problem I have is that my iPhone 13 Pro is getting in a verry short time to hot temperatures (at least 40°C)
The only difference in the setup was that the device wouldn’t be recognized in the Live Link window, but this can easily be solved with opening the VCam app and going into Unreal Remote right afterwards

Just tried it and same issue no update to ipad screen apart from one image after connection.

The ipad controls work and update on pc but nothing on the ipad.

Also the ipad has no ar or motion based movement being sent to pc.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon?

My iphone 13 also become very hot really quick with remote 2 but nothing work. I still don’t see anything in the live link either with Vcam or remote 2. Is there a setting to check in the phone maybe?

I know this is an old topic but I came across it when trying to debug the issue in 5.2.

It turns out I had (at some point) used the Viewport button at the top right, and picked a different viewport. This is different to the Viewports 1,2,3,4 panels.

I ‘restored’ the viewports, clicked the first one, maximised that, and now the VCamActor is able to ‘possess’ my Viewport.

Changing the ‘Target Viewport’ field was also useful to re-trigger the posession.

Thanks for posting this! I know it’s an old thread now, but it helped solve my problem.
