Live Link Face is now available on Android

Hey Everyone,

We have had reports of MetaHuman Animator users being unable to find the new Live Link Face app for Android. It is available from the Google Play Store here:

We are also investigating an issue which may prevent devices using the Snapdragon 8 Elite processors from using the app.

Cheers
James

This is great, thank you!

Yes, I’m unable to use it on a Galaxy S25 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite. The app says the device is not compatible.

Hey Everyone,

We launched an update to the Android app this morning that adds support for devices using the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

I have a Galaxy S24+ international version with Exynos 2400 processor, are you planning to support these processor in the future?

What are the minimum specs for the phone?
I have tried a few phones that are not that old ( 2 - 4 years? ) and none of them are good enough?

Thank you for the link. Sadly my new Google Pixel 9a running Android 16 is NOT supported. Why not? Wrong CPU? Not enough RAM? (that phone has just 8 GB RAM). Any chance it will be supported in the near future?

The error message in the logs says:

Solver early out: hardware acceleration not supported

Do we know if unsupported devices can still be used for non-realtime usage? E.g. to capture a video using an external camera, and then ingest the video using Live Link Hub or Capture Manager?

Thank you. When will you support other chipsets, say Dimensity 8300-Ultra (POCO X6 Pro)? Can’t you just add a flag to enable unsupported devices with a potential lag/incompatibility warning?

Hi, @JamesPullan and everyone-

Curious what you found regarding phones with the correct chipset/specs not being able to use the Live Link Face app. I am on an S24 Ultra, able to find and install the app, see my face mesh solve in real-time, but cannot connect to Live Link or Live Link Hub (with Live Link Face source). The “Live” icon at the top of the app remains grey and not green. I can ping my phone from my workstation with no error so they are on the same network. Attempting to connect via LL Hub I can enter the IP (and specify a port) of my S24 but I am unable to reciprocate within the LL app on my phone like in iOS when adding a target. Been in and out of the UDP rabbit hole and can confirm my editor and LL Hub are talking. Luckily I am able to ingest video recordings until this gets solved.

I bought the phone for this amazing workflow I have been seeing but at the moment it’s one big expensive question mark. Thanks to anyone with any insight!
