Hi, I wanted to do my research before buying a iphone for facial capture.
I am using ue4.27, is it possible to edit and cleanup the live link face capture data inside unreal OR maybe export the morph targets with facial animations to a 3d software to do the editing?
You can use Unreal tools to cleanup the animation curves, but honestly I think that is much better to use a dedicated DCC to clenaup the data and reimport than into Unreal.
Actually are you referring to ue5 tools? or does ue4 have the tools to do the cleanup and exporting data? For some reasons, I can’t find any information on cleaning up the data in ue4.
Got a iphone 12 mini, works fine. Sometimes overheating but still work.
I am using custom characters with the blendshapes. Setup pretty easy with a animation blueprint hook with live link pose.
After recording with take recorder, there’s a asset file generated deep in the cinematics folder. In that asset, you can edit the curves but with the sequencer file i cant edit the curves. If using blendshapes, I can export that asset and then in the 3d softwares, I can copy/paste the blendshapes data onto any characters. So the answer is that you can edit the data.
To use the facial mocap in sequencer together with body animation, need to set it to addictive - local space → skeleton reference. And then also delete the bone tracks - Asset → remove all bone tracks.
