Hi I want to include lava in my final major project for university but I don’t know how to make it. I tried making a material and then applying it to a plane but it wasn’t exactly what i wanted. I would want my lava to actually flow like a liquid, maybe even like a waterfall but i cannot find any tutorials or resources to help me do it. I am really new to unreal and would appreciate your help. Thank you.
Hey there @Machii07! Welcome to the community! In most cases, games are required to fake “flowing” when it comes to liquids. Materials or simple particles is what is usually recommended but if you have the performance budget and you really want simulated fluids you can go with something like Niagara fluids:
Though often this is not what would be expected in a realtime environment due to how performance hungry it can be.
I would recommend something like flowmaps personally as you have a bit more control than a basic panning material, but don’t sacrifice as much performance:
