Linux remote desktop support for Unreal engine

Hi all,

I’m trying to use a remote desktop from my Windows laptop to a Linux-based workstation and am having some trouble with it, where small movement on the remote laptop in Unreal Editor makes Unreal go crazy. I have tried different solutions TigerVNC etch, and none was helpful.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be really helpful

remote desktop (windows) or similar remote control software often suffers from incompatibilities with input (like holding keys), lag, delays and black screens. Things you won’d be dealing with when not working remote. Best experience I’ve had remoting windows to windows with unreal was probably Parsec. RDP and Teamviewer were no favorites. I suggest a stable 20Mbit connection at least as well, or you’ll get stuck and stare at pixelating video feeds constantly. You probably want to be able to stream HD at the very least, and reduce ping / delays to bare minimum. Otherwise you will get the “crazyness” of screen chopping or your camera view being barely controllable.

Do consider remote control solutions a security threat as they are often abused by attackers, and can also cause people in a business environment to leak business data or operate past their business network security.
