Linux build using unreal 5.2 gives black screen on launch on Steam deck

I have been developing my game using Unreal 5.2. It has been running fine on steam deck and windows for a while. The recent Steam OS update (3.5.19) causes the game to go straigt to a black screen on launch (I believe the issue is caused by “Gamescope”.) The issue is solved in the beta version of steam OS (3.6+) but that is not yet released as stable so i dont want to rely on it. Is there something i can turn off in Unreal engine to prevent this problem occuring? Others must have had this issue?

Additional info, I tried upgrading to UE 5.4 but the issue persists.

More info, the Windows version works fine on the deck (though slightly slower)… I am guessing that the issue is with volkan conflicting with gamescope…
