Linking to GitHub account is successful but does not grant access

I am trying to download the new Blender plugins.

I have followed the guide for linking accounts

I completed up to step 7 with no problems, however instead of an invitation email from GitHub (step 8) I received an email letting my know they the link had been made. I also received the confirmation email from Epic at the same time. I assume this difference is just a change of process GitHub’s end.

Despite the success emails I can not see the Unreal Engine or Blender plugin repos. I just get a 404 if I follow the links from either page (above). I’ve given it a couple days, and also tried disconnecting/recreating the link, with no success.

I’ve seen the same issue a few times on here, but I didn’t see anything recent with a solution.

What’s my next step?

Hello.

We are aware of a recent issue that the invitation step to join the Epic Unreal repo is not occurring. Epic is working with Github to resolve this issue.

We will provide more information here as it is available.

Thank you

Thank you for working on this. I’m seeing same thing here. Three different people on my team have attempted this with the same result. I have tried to unlink and re-link multiple times.

Are you going to post updates here?

I will post updates here. At this time we are still aligning with Github (the company). Epic is treating this as a very urgent matter.

Thank you

Thanks. Is there any chance of an alternative download for the Blender plugins in the meantime?
Is there a particular reason they’re locked away to start with?

I had the same issue, for anyone that is having this issue. After I made a post saying I had this issue a staff member promptly responded saying they’re aware of the issue and then i got an invite (i assume they did it manually). I hope this helps anyone

Cheers, looks like I got my invite.

… which hasn’t actually done anything. Is there a delay?
I clicked the “Join @EpicGames” button in the email and it takes me to the EpicGames GitHub page, but I still can’t see any of the engine/plugin repos.

I also still can’t access the unreal engine repo, even after accepting the invite.

Actually, got it to work!

  1. Leave the epic organization in github
  2. Revoke the Oauth access in github
  3. Unlink your unrealengine and github account from unrealengine
  4. Re-link the accounts

After that you’ll get the repo invite again and it should give you full access now.

This issue was resolved around 12:00am EDT on Friday August 20. Users who were blocked should have now received the invitation email. If the original invitation has timed out, please try following these additional steps shared by a user (thanks g-canter)

  1. Leave the epic organization in github
  2. Revoke the Oauth access in github
  3. Unlink your unrealengine and github account from unrealengine
  4. Re-link the accounts
  5. After that you’ll get the repo invite again and it should give you full access now.

Epic will be performing a full review of how this incident occurred, and take additional steps to ensure it does not occur again in the future.

Thank you

This incident has been resolved. Please see the other ‘answer’ for additional details.

Thank you

Thanks, the extra steps worked for me.
For anyone else that has trouble finding the Oauth access settings, they can be found under the Applications tab: Reviewing your authorized integrations - GitHub Docs
