I’m having an issue with the cable actor. I have attached the end point of the cable to a light bulb, and have it set as a movable object, but instead of the light dangling there like it should, it just falls to the floor and stretches the cable actor with it. I even made the cable actor the parent to the bulb but that didn’t do anything. Also, in editor mode, the cable is invisible. I’m not sure what’s going on or why it isn’t working, I’ve tried almost every iteration. Also, I’m using the old 4.10.4 version.
(Also getting wind to work would be a plus too! The wind directional source isn’t doing anything.)
The cable component does not actually have physical length. It will be strechted to where the endpoint is. Doesn’t matter the length of the cable component.
Having the cable follow an sequencer animation or some sort of the other way round, speaking that the cable follows the lightbulb would be easier imo.
There will most certaily be a way to make your own cable that will do as you like, but that is a little more difficult than parenting or an animation.
theres a video by dean ashford that may be of some help in this case which ill link below. it basically shows how you can create a cable that attaches components and allows them to move with physics
