Linear grayscale or grayscale for roughness / metallic maps? (washed out textures, comparison pic included)

Ok, I found out why it’s mismatching. It’s because sRGB is turned off. When I turned sRGB on the values match. however I’ve read in lots of places that for grayscale texture we are supposed to turn sRGB off. So is this messing with the roughness/metallic values at all if I turn sRGB on?
