Hi im having an issue with my ray trace showing that its not hitting an object that is clearly in its path. there is a duplicate of the same actor in each grid spot but the ray trace only interacts with the first two no matter whaty orientation and ignores the third row and seemingly is turning around since the line is a little thicker on one part. what am i doing wrong?
Having difficulty seeing exactly what’s going on. Are you firing off multiple line traces? I can’t tell what direction the trace is going. Is it going from the camera to the board or is it going from top of the screen to the bottom… flat on the playing area? Are there invisible actors? I just can’t tell what I’m looking at here. Sorry.
I did look at your blueprint but it looks like you’ve been modifying it quite a bit. I did see that the end point is 1.0 above the start in the Z axis and 700 smaller on the X axis. X is the forward axis. Why the +1 on the Z axis? What direction is the positive X axis in your image? Is the third row the top row or the bottom row?
Are you expecting to intersect the O’s and the X’s that I’m assuming most are hidden?
hi sorry for the sloppy blueprints, im firing only one ray trace for now just to make sure it works. it is supposed to go from the position of where i place the x or o and upward to check all of the grid actors that are invisible in runtime. i told it to go +650 (or however many units at the time) on the x axis each grid is 200 units apart so 600+ should reach all of the grids and visibly the line trace is reaching but isn’t interacting with anything past 400 units. the squares you see are the line trace colliding with the invisible grids but it for some reason isn’t doing that after the first two collisions.
i expect it to collide with the x and o im just wondering why the line trace isnt showing a collision when it should
What are grid actors? It’s kind of difficult to help when we can’t see what it’s supposed to interact with. I don’t know what those green hits are for. Could you show a screenshot with everything visible so we can see what it’s supposed to hit?
When something isn’t responding to a line trace, it’s usually because their collision settings aren’t set to block the trace channel. Can you show what your collision settings are for the static meshes that aren’t working?
