Already reported, see link text
Since version 4.17, it seems that the number of foliage instances in a scene is limited to a certain number (about 1’500). If there’s more instances tham that, all the instances become invisible.
They appear again when the number of instances is reduced by erasing the exceeding ones.
Thanks for your attention and for your amazing engine !!!
Hi guy,
thanks for the link (I promised I searched for any topics concerning the foliage since last world war without finding yours…).
But actually, I don’t exactly have the same problem as yours.
If I should describe my problem step by step, it would be :
- Create a very large plane
- Start drawing any foliage on it
- When the number of instances exceeds 1,5k this foliage disappear
- Erase some foliage with the tool and when the number of instances is less than 1,5k again, the foliage appears again.
Here we go.
Perhaps a patch would solve both cases ?
The person who made the latest changes for Instanced Static Meshes (which Foliage Instances derive from) already made a hotfix I believe, which will come out with 4.17.2. I assume all problems should be solved by then. If not, reopen this question.
Hi
This is already fixed for 4.17.2
