Hello, my name is Darko, and the past two years I have been working on a short animated movie that I want to render using a game engine.
A version of the movie has already been done with Cryengine, but I must admit that UE 4 has been constantly trying to seduce me with every new update, the really nice documentation, the constant new amazing features, the user friendly interface all really appealing to me, so finally I gave in. So I started to port the project from Cryengine to UE4. I must say that UE4 is much more friendly looking towards the indie film makers but I don’t want this post to turn into Cry vs UE4. Cry will always have a special place in my heart :P, it’s just that our relationship have been to bumpy for my taste
Without further ado here is a trailer made in CE4.8 mostly.

You can follow progress here
And here are some UE 4 stuff I have been doing recently as I started to port everything. I find working in UE 4 so much fun!
Thanks for the comments Here is another update. I made a driveable car for Lilly, so i can record car sequences more easily and also i wanted to learn the process of creating driveable cars.
Hey here is a small progress on how the forest is coming along. Most of the assets are made by me, except for the rocks grass, fern and the other small bush like tree.
Thanks for the replies. As for the VR question, I definately had that idea, but right now I don’t think I am ready to do VR just yet, because I am still learning a lot of stuff in UE4, and also because i don’t have a VR headset. This will still be a regular movie format when I release it. It wont run in real time. But I already have a script for a second episode of this, and once I finish this, I would really love to do the whole movie in real time, which then opens the door to VR viewing of the movie.
Hello. I have a small update. I have finished my masters degree and I made a small playable game play demo in Lilly universe. My plan is to make short playable demos that would come out along side the movie. These games would be FPS point and click puzzle adventures, like “Gone home” but with a little bit more action, and with cut scenes. Here is teaser of the demo game play.
