Lighting Quick Start Guide

Ok, I’ve just started and wanted to make something simple. So I decided to follow this guide and stuck at the very beginning. I did exact same steps but everything screwed up. What the heck is wrong with this guide? Is it outdated? Because I follow step by step, enter the same numbers as required but get different result.
Help please!

How exactly does it look like/what exactly is not working as it should? -> then I can test it out

I’m trying this guide
There after adding few planes (floors and walls) you should get a small room but what I get is you can hardly call a room. It’s a mess. The planes go in the wrong directions.

I just had a quick look at this myself, and this might not be what’s confusing you, but it did confuse me at least.

The details panel in that tutorial has units showing as meters. I’ve no idea how to change this in the editor. But by default in Unreal Engine 1 meter = 100 units (cm).

So if you just multiply all the location units in the tutorial by 100 it’ll work. At least the setup part, I’ve not gone any further in the tutorial.

Oh, that’s why I’ve got this problem.

Actually I noticed it too and tried to enter numbers with “m” as meters but the editor would change it to just numbers so I continued entering just numbers.

My mistake. However, I guess the version of the engine in the guide differs from the current one and this is confusing. Well, I should be more attentive.

Thank you very much, guys, for help!

be sure to look at the scaling in the demo, everything I’ve seen so far should work as is
(some of the lighting is scaled)
(and you have to get used to the metric thing)

and be sure to use the rotations it shows as well
(if it don’t look right, rotate it yourself in the editor)

btw: I have learned more from the mistakes that were in the docs, not to mention my own mistakes than I have from any other source lol
think about it!

Indeed, one who makes no mistakes makes nothing! Thanks a lot!
