I’m trying to sell a project to only a few number of people who have no idea about “cracking” a game.
I have 2 questions:
How do I create a license key for a UE4 project? So the project is only limited to 1 machine with that key, and to run it for the first time you need to have a code of some sort.
How can I make this into a subscription? So that the project expires (lets say after 1 year), and they need to purchase another key to keep using the product for another year.
You will need to code in something like C++, but know this: if something worths a lot of money it will be cracked. If it does not worth a lot of money, it will still be cracked just for the challenge (hackers love it) and they will still try to sell the crack. This means, will the effort worth in this case?
A good example are the Substance toolset from Allegorithmic, they are subscription based, they have a license server to enable you to use the client software. Those programs whenever they get a new release, they got cracked. Allegorithmic decided to make the subscriptions a lot cheaper and they greatly succeeded in having less piracy going on.
