Silly question, I need to move my license to another machine, in “My” it says I have 5 swaps left but I can’t work out the proccess.
Any advice gratefully recived

So the license seems to be activated till the END, that means until 1 September… You can switch it just after the license has ended, that is why we highly recommend to have it activated by a 7-day period ( disabled auto renewal ), this way you can easily change it among PCs…
So, if I want to go on site with a laptop and use RC I have to wait a week for the license to run out on my desktop before I can transfer ?
In your faq it states -
Our policy does not allow changing computer before its activation period is over.
but later it says -
In case you may switch your license to a different computer (after having checked in your MY account / licenses), uninstall RC from the old computer and install, run and activate it on the new computer.
Does this mean I can uninstall/deactivate and reinstall/activate on the laptop when I need to do tests according to my work schedule ? Several pieces of software I currently use do this. allowing me to go to their web site deactivate my license then activate it from whatever machine I need to use ( huge help when travelling between home and office ).
Not being able to do testing in the field because my license is stuck on my desktop is kind of a big deal. and having to buy a second license for my laptop while my desktop is burning through a 7 day license period unused is just silly.

Actually no. You can’t. If you activate your license on computer A for lat’s say 7 days then you will not be able to use it on another computer during this 7 days. Thank you for your understanding.
We are internally discussing and deciding if we will release something like floating license but we are not decided yet. Therefore, thank you for the post.
Anyways, you can use demo version on the field on your laptop just to check if you have all data using alignment, incremental capture, and inspect tool. And then align again and compute final model on your promo version at home.

Many people are working on multiple computers.
I have a stationary and a laptop that I work on when on the move.
This licensing system is almost worse than a dongle.
It does not prevent piracy, just making paying customers frustrated.
Believe me, I have been working in the software industry since the mid 80s.

Yes, we know it is a pain.
YES, it does help fight the piracy, that is why there is NO crack or anything like that for RC.
In the near future we will change the licenses so it will be more comfortable to switch to other PCs…
Personally I frequently hotswap between my laptop and my workstation and I find the 1 license for 7 days system very frustrating.
But as frustrating as the current license system is, if it is effective against piracy, then you cannot really blame the developers from wanting to use it. Especially when the software is very good. They need protection to their livelihood!
I just hope there is a bit more wiggle room implemented in future (more swaps/more frequently etc) or that a more effective license system that isn’t detrimental to the workflow of the users can be implemented.
