Reality capture keeps giving me a error trying to connect to the licencing servers to get a licence - my montthly licence is all paid up and there are no issues with my account!
So first it gives me a error saying it cant connect to the licencing servers
Then it gets the licnece and says everything is ok
then immediatly it gives me the error again saying it cant connect to the licencing servers
this happened slowly and got worse and worse and now my project is stuck
And this is all this in the middle of a 48 hour render for a major deadline - and now my only option is to quit the app and loose all my time ???
so my solution was to launch another instance of reality capture - that one got a licence no problem - and then tried to relicence the first instance and it got a licence and now it seems to be working
ok so seems that my intel wireless drivers are giving trouble - they are stadnard on ASUS high end motherboards.and i guess that would cause this to happen ?
saw netwtw08 inn my logs and found this online : Intel Wireless-AC 9560 netwtw08 driver crashes
i guess whenever the driver crashes RC looses the licence ?
used the intel driver update tool to find a new driver and that should fix it… so i guess you can close this bug out but if my licence renews in 10 days why is RC trying to renew so often ?
Hello dear user,
I will leave it here for other users to possibly find a solution. We’re glad you got it working and yes RC needs a stable connection, unless activated offline. When activating a license you can choose the activation period up to 90 days. For PPI the activation period is 30 days. If RC loses connection you’ll be asked to sign in again.
aah interesting solution - so we can activate offline for say 30 days (since we have a month to month licence) and then not have to worry about connectivity issues ?
Yes, you could indeed, the only thing where PPI needs a connection while being activated offline is when exporting. If you would have the inputs already licensed and have the license file for them, then you could do the whole process offline.
we have a monthly licence not ppi… i assume its the same process however for offlne licencing ? would we have to do this when we renew the licence ?
anyways the problem keeps happening and now it is happening on two workstations that ran perfectly for months before - the jobs are suddenly being paused with constant errors saying cant connect to your licence servers
we click try again and they work for a while then it pops up again
we have no issues or problems with internet or with the workstations themselves and our licences dont expire for another week at the least ?
Hello dear user,
If you are using floating license then, we are sorry for this inconvenience and we have been reported with this issue today. Developers are actively working on a quick fix for this issue. Until it is fixed, I recommend you to disable floating and reactivate the license again to make the changes effective. Also restart the application of course.
Regarding the offline activation, here is a quick tutorial for you.
Offline activation
When activating offline, you will be asked to save an Unlock file on a removable media (usb, external harddisk, etc.)
You will have to sign in and in “My Reality” go to “Licenses”, where you can select a desired license you want to activate, and scroll down to the “Activation” part.
Here you can upload your Unlock file and will have to choose duration of the activation on the specific computer and its name.
After hitting Activate on the website, a license file will be downloaded and you can put it back to the application using the Browse button in the ‘Activate RealityCapture’ window and click on Activate.
Once done, your application is successfully licensed offline.
Great to know you are working on fixing it as we have large jobs and to relicence the machine means we have to cancel processing and loose the jobs !!!
any eta on fixing your licencing servers as my jobs are all freezing up constantly here and we will loose days of processing if we have to cancel them to install permanent licences
I have constant problem with floating licence - soft keeps frompting about disconnection from license server too.
And I wouldnt say this is a problem since yesterday, kept happening in the past but not that often.
This breaks totally job workflow.
Dear users,
there currently is no specific ETA, but as mentioned above we know about the issue and are working as much as possible to get this fixed fast. Please follow the specified workflow meanwhile and be patient.
