Level streaming questions

  1. Is the only way to implement a functional loading screen through level streaming, if so how should one go about it.

  2. Is there any reason not to stream levels or are there any drawbacks from streaming levels.

  3. Would linking all levels of a game together cause any problems or performance issues.

  2. You’re not linking them together, you’re just loading them one at a time.

Level streaming is for one of two things

  1. You want to swap levels, but you don’t want things to hang while you load the map

  2. You want an open world setting.

If 2, then you might be better off with ‘world partition’, Epic’s latest offering.
