Level not saving UE 4-27

This started happening to me recently, with version 4.27.

I create a new project, set it to ‘blank’ with no starter content. It opens with the default lighting stuff and the default “floor” platform. I delete the floor, add a post process volume and a lightmass importance volume and save. It asks for a name, so I give it a name. I close the program, restart it and the floor is back, the volumes are gone. I delete the floor and “save”… it wants me to give it a name…etc…

If I leave the floor and just make it invisible and continue on… I create a new level for my landscape. Import a heightmap and save the level… It asks for a name. I give it a name. I close the editor and reopen it.

The default floor is showing and when I try to “open level”, it gives me a big black screen. If I shut the editor down, it asks me if I want to save the ‘untitled’ level. The new level I created is not on the list to save.

I’ve tried this multiple times and it just refuses to delete that floor… it refuses to save my volumes… it refuses to save my new level.

If it makes a difference, my UE program and launcher are installed on C:, but my projects are installed on my secondary SSD due to space.

Do I have to have the project installed on the same drive as the program? I had read that that wasn’t necessary, but I’m at a total loss as to what to try to get this to work.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Hey there!

I’m really not sure if I understand what you’re saying, but it sounds like you’re modifying the default load level, saving it as another level, resetting the editor and expecting to see the level you saved? I’m merely asking because I noticed you didn’t make a mention of setting the editor startup level to the one you saved. UE4 by default will load a default level with the floor every time you open the editor, unless you set a new map in your project settings.
