Level Designer and QA Tester for unannounced online multiplayer IP

Roll7 are a BAFTA winning studio preparing to embark on their most ambitious and exciting project yet. After the smash hit successes of their 2D titles (OlliOlli, OlliOlli2 and Not A Hero), this new IP is a 3D, high-octane sports / action title and promises to become yet another exciting member of the Roll7 game family.

Roll7 run development remotely and this role requires the applicant to undertake the vast majority of their work at home. Appropriate equipment, dev kits and software licenses will be supplied as required. There will be travel to London required on an Ad Hoc basis for team meetings / work days and therefore applicants MUST be based in England (preferably within the M25)

Tester (8 months contract)

Salary: competitive, depends on experience, £18-20K (Pro Rata)

This is an opportunity to join the team at Roll7, and as QA Junior, work in a small QA team of 3 to help bring our new title to market.

The role requires a keen eye for detail, meticulous ability find issues and bugs, and a clear understanding of QA process and documentation. You will have worked on at least one commercial project previously and show real passion for the importance of quality QA and testing process.

Responsibilities
• Work with the QA team to deliver testing across all areas of the game
• Deliver clear and consistent bug and regression reports
• Input and manage using our Online Ticketing System

Experience / Qualifications
• Educated to Degree Level or equivalent Games QA course
• Experience with QA on at least 1 commercial title

Skills
• Eye for detail crucial
• Ability to work remote and manage workload
• Analytical and methodical
• Good knowledge of games titles on the market so that you can evaluate a game against its competition
• Understanding of how games are put together and how the different elements of a game contribute to the playing experience
• Be able not only to identify and record a problem, but also to try to work out what is causing it
• Excellent communication skills, including tact in dealing with other members of the team
• Close attention to detail
• Persistent and patient
• Be able to play games for long periods
• Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Passion for game playing


Level Designer (3 months contract)

Salary: competitive, depends on experience

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Level Designer to work with us on an exciting new Online Multiplayer IP.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with designers, artists and programmers to create amazing, fun, innovative levels
• Responsible for the planning, layout and refinement of your levels from high-level concept to low-level scripting
• Use player-feedback and design direction to hone the gameplay experience

Skills Experience and Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Shipped multiple titles as a level designer
• Excellent understanding of scripting and game logic
• An understanding of learning curves, pacing, and player motivations
• An ability to weave artistic themes together with core mechanics to build immersive gameplay experiences
• An ability to propose creative solutions to complex level design problems
• An in-depth knowledge of current games and gaming trends
• A passion for making great games

Bonus skills and experience:
• Unreal experience
