Hi all,
I started a thread 6 days ago that got a lot of community traction, although in that time it only got 1 copy / paste response from Epic staff so I thought I would try again, and be as clear as possible. I’m only speaking to the Quixel part of this migration as that’s all I use.
Every single one of these points would be addressed with a direct copy of Quixel Bridge. This is your tool, you own it! Plug it into the backend the Quixel content hosted on Fab and lets move on.
-
No Bridge = Not Usable. I’m speaking for all DCC’s that ARE NOT Unreal. Quixel set the bar and the expectation. We are dependent on it for workflows, pipelines and its an integrated part of our creative process. Anything less than a direct match is not good enough, and shutting it down without a direct match is a scary prospect.

Downloads are Horrific. Not only can we not pick and choose what we want to download, but now its all split into .zip folders. This is such an amateur and broken system. What if I want 2k textures, High Res Model, LOD0 model, with EXR displacement. THATS 4 ZIPS I need to download, and even then I have to delete content from each one to consolidate what Bridge did in 1 click. Fab takes 50+ clicks for the same operation, and the outcome is still worse.
-
Filtering. Bridge let us filter VIA object size and characteristics, this is also essential. As Fab search is so terrible you simply cant find anything you are looking for, that’s why we need prompts / filters within a dedicated Quixel Portal.

COMMUNICATE. Its been stated Bridge will go offline in time, but it needs to be very clear what benchmarks Fab needs to hit for this to take place. Is it quality, time, features, a new bridge tool…what is it? If Epic came out and said “Bridge will stay online until a 1:1 alternative exists and has been community tested” Fantastic. But the radio silence is leading to stronger and stronger feedback.
I could go on as there are a ton of more issues, but again, 100% of these are gone if you just re-instate Bridge as Fab.
Epic’s communication as been literally the worst I have experienced in any professional capacity. In 6 days of posting a thread here, and 5 days of sending 2 email’s via support I received 1 copy / paste response and an AI email reply with typos.
We love our jobs, and we take them seriously. I implore you to do the same.
