So I’m a huge sucker for HRTF, and all the other realistic sound related stuff. Back in the UE4 days, I used the Steam Audio and Resonance Audio plugins for HRTF, reverb, occlusion, all that good stuff. Sadly, neither of those were able to catch up to UE5, nor the latest versions of UE4.
What really throws me off is that UE4, and even UE5 still have the same old version of the Resonance Audio plugin, which doesn’t even support occlusion. What throws me off even more is that it’s enabled by default.
Now I know Epic is preparing to use Microsoft’s Project Acoustics, which apparently does have HRTF, but I wasn’t able to find anything about it in the editor, or the docs.
In the meantime, does anyone have any recommendations? I still like Resonance Audio the most, since it’s fully dynamic, but that plugin is even more outdated than Steam Audio, and I think making it work with newer versions would be quite a bit of work. Unless someone already did so, and I just wasn’t able to find it.
