Designed to be used during the block out fase of your levels. With these set of blueprints you can measure the area and circumference of rectangles and ellipses, distances between 2 points and routes/paths.
General
For all the components: The color and position of the labels can be changed. It include an option to let the labels always face the camera, so when designing your level you can always read the labels. All the blueprints use the metric system. If there are many requests I might consider implementing the imperial system. The name of the component in the World Outliner is set in the label for quick identification.
Ruler
Drop this blueprint in your level to see the distance between the start and end point. You can choose if you want to see the interval labels. The interval can be changed, but default its set to 1m.
Route/Path
With this blueprint you can set a path through your level. It will show you the distance, but also the time a player would need to follow this path. The speed a character can have can be set in the settings. Set this to the maximum speed of your character!
You can add multiple markers on the path. For instance on half the length (50%). This is very usefull for instance when 2 teams should arrive at the same moment in a particulair place in the level. It helps you setup the choke points and where geometry should be placed to force a player to take a certain path. Or in singleplayer to make sure multiple paths in a level are the same by distance and/or time.
When timings are important in your level (multiplayer and singleplayer) this is a very valuable tool. No more endless playtesting with a stopwatch only to make sure the timings and distances are correct. More time to focus on the gameplay!
Ellipse
Drop this blueprint in your level, resize it and the label will show you the area, size and circumference of the ellipse. Color of the ellipse can be changed to whatever you want (material).
Rectangle
Drop this blueprint in your level, resize it and the label will show you the area, size and circumference of the rectangle. Color of the rectangle can be changed to whatever you want (material).
