Currently, we (creators) live in the dark, we don’t know if the stability of the game is being addressed, the ability of the engine to house more than 17 players is addressed, and how creators can create large games with a lot of content.
We need to know the intrinsic details of what is currently happening with memory spikes, verse device performance issues, server issues, and creative issues, is someone working on these? If so, we need to know. I hate to see updates where we have critical upstanding issues and typos are getting fixed. I thought posting in the forums was substantial but it seems the same 3 issues that I reported around 4 times now and are critical have not been fixed or communicated on their status.
For almost 3 months now we made a game that we can’t market, schedule for release, or even fix, because the inherent issues appeared one day, and we are not informed if they are getting fixed or not. Epic is holding back the ecosystem, and us trying to pull out miracles doesn’t even work anymore.
-Fix the core issues, and/or appoint manpower to address them if not any.
-Communicate core issue status, like servers, tools, and processes.
-Add debugging tools so we can help spot issues as well.
I know this is a little abstract, but simply with a hotfix atm we have our project not being accessible, cannot publish and past some versions in our game we cannot even load in game (Matchmaking error #2). The issue is right there, because older versions of our game play fine, just not new ones, but we lack the tools to find what it is within the 30k+ actors and devices.
We already paused development and release because of other issues the project had (which one of them we helped find), but regardless of the expectation of ship it broken and fix it when someone complains, now we cant even spot where the issue is because all the tools that were meant to help are not even migrated from Creative or developed yet.
I don’t understand how a professional studio will come to this platform and not lose sanity on their first project. Today, I was looking at a template in UEFN, the thing doesn’t even run in live edit because of validation errors, something btw that no one from the creator side cares, and yet its now our problem out of nowhere, similar to moderation and discovery.
Start. Fixing. The Fires. Pause the roadmap until we can actually make games, or appoint teams that will be stable in the future so they know where everything is at. Its a mess rn
