Les Terres de Sienn

Hi,

I would like to take a moment to share with you all a project that three of my mates and I are working on. The goal is to rebuild an environment based on a comic book, which is, in our case, “Les Terres de Sienn”, a french creation made by Jean-Luc Istin. The main objective is to bring to life a story through the environment. We are constrained by the maximum number of items and the overall capacity of the scene to be played at 30 fps on a medium range laptop.

Here is the comic book we chose for our main reference.

Here is the mood board we made based on it for the project.

We created a simple storyboard to share our ideas of what the project should be. We wanted to tell the story of one of the specific character, who is depressed and who wants to commit suicide. His journey begins in a ravine from which he doesn’t see the end of it, who represent the oppression he feels and the uncertainty that comes along with it. The path eventually opens up to his homeland he wasn’t seen in years, only to make him realize that everything has been ravaged with time. After witnessing all this, and knowing he’s the last one of his kind, he decides to end with his life. He walks up to the bridge to make the fatal leap that will end everything, taking his life away.

As of now, we are working on the blocking, finding some good compositions with the environment for the camera to witness and the creation of a strong, emotional narrative to be voiced over.
You can see our current progress here, all of the content are placeholders for us to get a better idea of the final result.

Any comments, suggestions, critics or ideas are welcome.
