Lens options for interior scan

I am attempting to complete a scan of an office room. I am aware that photogrammetry reconstructions are less successful on blank walls and for that use a LiDAR scanner for the structure and the photos for the textures will produce the best results.

When it comes to the photogrammetry side I would like to start by doing (or at least attempting) a reconstruction first using just photogrammetry. I have a Sony A7Rii with the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 and from everything I can gather I will be wanting a wide angle prime. I have been looking between the Batis 18mm f/2.8 and the Loxia 21mm f/2.8. With both lenses costing the same and manual/auto focus not being an issue for this use case, I was curious if anyone had any first hand experiences with reconstructions using one of these lenses or if someone could point me in the right direction between the two.

Also, as a third question; I was curious if anyone had done any interior reconstructions using a lens as large as the 55mm. I have had very good luck on smaller object reconstructions using this lens, I am just afraid that it will not be able to capture enough data per shot for it to be a viable option at all.

Hi Gavin Calaway

Highly recommend to look for SIGMA ART 14 mm lens ( or 14-27 mm if want have some more options ) As they are one of the best options on market ( price/performance )

Thanks for the input! Will I not be getting too much distortion on a 14mm lens? I was under the impression that going that low was not advised? also would you say the results of the 14 with the necessary adapter would yield better results than the Batis 18? (this is the lens I have been leaning toward).

Hi Gavin Calaway

Just look on ASPHERICAL lens that minimize distortion even on wide lens. and most new ( SIGMA too ) lenses offer this feature.
