LEGO Assets and Island Building

Is there a road map, or space for dialogue about LEGO assets in Fortnite/UEFN?

I was excited about the possibilities, but it seems like UEFN creators do not have access to anywhere near the assets of official LEGO creators.

I wasn’t under the impression that every LEGO ever would be available, but I expected to be able to make something like (the official) “LEGO Fortnite”, even if it was lacking in some aspects. However, as far as I can tell there is no way to add LEGO NPCs, or any LEGO asset that is not in the library, which is pretty much just the template islands.

Does anyone know of a plan to add more assets, or elements that a more cohesive game/mode could be developed? Or, to put another way, at what point may developers be able to approach developing their “own” LEGO Fortnite, with pieces from any of the available experiences (LEGO Cat Island Adventure, etc…) or beyond?

Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.

I would like to upvote this request since I feel that the Lego assets are very basic and limits the potential to create awesome maps for creatives like myself to create for the consumer.

Absolutely, I’d like some more specifics on this as well. I’ve been looking into UEFN over the last few days in the hopes of creating new game modes, along with appropriate “custom” assets to suit those game modes (I’m primarily a 3D Artist). The supplied Rules + Guidelines are pretty unclear on this. The line that most people have been citing is this:

“1. No modification. Do not change or otherwise modify the shape of any existing LEGO brick, element or other LEGO content, for example, by stretching, cropping or recoloring elements.”

^ This makes sense to me, since altering any of the current assets would be prone to inconsistencies with other islands. However, these guidelines don’t say anything about creating entirely new assets, like new minifig parts, vehicles, or modular pieces for structures.

It would be great to receive some more clarification on this from Epic staff members. I’ve noticed that they’ve been hiring people who are familiar with LDD and Bricklink Studio, which makes me think they might be developing (or already have) some sort of internal conversion tool for converting proper digital Lego set designs into game-ready Lego Fortnite assets. Is there any way that Creator Portal artists/users can contribute to this process, within the rule restrictions…?
