Not entirely sure where to post this, but i was told by support to come here. Here goes…
Exporting and reimporting UEFN / Fortnite assets.
Me and my teammate are wondering if there are any legalities around exporting and reimporting existing Fortnite assets to UEFN for map creation purposes.
To give an example, there are some statues which are built up from parts and are being currently used as placeable prefabs. Since i don’t have direct access to said parts, but they are available in the prefab format, i would like to export those and reimport them as “new” separate static meshes in order to play around with them.
Also, if there’s any insight into legalities regarding older fortnite versions or licensed property (Star Wars, etc) in UEFN map making.
For previously licensed property/IPs, that’s a deal between Epic and Insert Entertainment Megacorp name here - according to rule 1.7 this is not allowed.
As far as I know it’s not possible to export any Fortnite Assets from UEFN. I’d be curious to know about how you’d export the mesh.
Hello everyone,
I have the same question, because I am using just a few assets from Fortnite to build my island and want to instance them for better performance and less memory usage (like shown in this very helpful talk Project Optimization in UEFN).
Unfortunately instancing native assets is not jet supported… so I want to re import the exact same asset as static meshes to use them for instancing. Is this illegal? I personally do not think so because we are allowed to use them in our Fortnite experiences so why not as static meshes? Has anyone another opinion on that or some evidence from the terms because I have not found any yet.
Thanks in advance!
