I just made the big switch today from what I thought would be a wonderful hybrid system created by reallusion Called Iclone 8. I’ve been in the film and television business for 30 years before I retired and started as a cameraman and worked my way up to senior editor at a large production facility. I did build an edit in my home and when I discovered AI I thought I had died and gone to heaven. No worries about getting stock footage or graphics. And I made a lot of fun music videos as well as visualizations of classic and contemporary poetry. But I wanted to start doing narrative drama and if we know anything about AI we know it is predictive technology. That means no shot is ever the same when restaged. Because every time A draws an image it’s predicting all the parameters and those have variations. Trying to get cameras placed or hitting their marks was a losing battle. And don’t talk to me about trying to match action from each staging of each shot. I had hoped this hybrid approach using an animation to drive the model and get it to conform things in time and space was a losing battle. And the final straw was when I finished my learning curve and generated my first frame my main character didn’t have the usual photo realistic appearance most AI images have. It looked like a game piece. That was the last straw. Luckily one of my LLMs Suggested that Unreal had gone through a lot of changes recently and even though I swore I would never work on a regular CGI system that required hours and hours of rendering time, when I saw the changes that had been made I jumped in with both feet. Yesterday as a matter of fact. So I am in somewhat familiar territory 'cause I used to love playing with Lightwave on my Amiga 2000 even though I was working at high end facility and multi $1,000,000 edit bays. Anyway I’m in the learning curve now and the more I learn the more I like what I see. Just wanted to say howdy.
