Experienced in Unreal Engine 4 and World Machine video game level design, you will be a productive team-leader who excels at daily progress. You will engage your team with tasks that all feed into our mutual pipeline of production. Taking maps and level layouts and turning them into outstanding terrain experiences designed for both visual attraction and playability.
Our game is an open-world FPS with RPG-elements. You will understand and apply texture and level streaming, Mip-Map distance bias, particle LOD’s, proper LOD use, and texture tiling by distance (as examples). This is so that we can make memorable areas, to focus players, while also allowing them to explore anywhere and find all of the beautiful detail that we build together, having it perform well.
You have a love and passion for working on level design and creating environments the player can experience in awe. You understand how to stitch maps together to seamlessly build them into an open-world in UE4.
You are experienced in working with Photoshop, Speedtree, audio, 3D and Substance assets. Always keeping those files highly-organized. You will be skilled in Unreal Engine level design, sculpting terrain, following map designs, use of height and splat maps, terrain texturing using a blend of real-world textures, and Substances.
From our concepts, we have professional map-makers (cartographers) design our ‘RPG type’ maps. Then we build out memorable outdoor environments for our ‘multiplayer, outdoor-arena’ games. Our design allows for wide open 3D gameplay that is truly thrilling to experience. Like a rollercoaster off the rails, we put the players in control and they create the ‘ride’. You will create the expanding high-fantasy world where players need to win arenas to acquire more territory.
You will work remotely. You will track your time. You set forward your hourly wage and currency of choice. You will begin at least part-time so we can name you as our Lead Level Designer in our Business Plan and show your work in our videos. You will go full time up to 40-to-50 hours a week once we are funded (this will be any day now). IMU Studios is seeking a Lead Level Designer for Contract work. It begins as royalty to set up the team, then becomes full-time paid work.
We are a dedicated team of professionals. We’ve got a playable prototype and now we need to grow the team to hit our milestones regularly, while our Business Advisor and our Executive Producer bring in the funding they have sourced.

This is made up of a thoughtfully-designed first-person open world video game with RPG elements, a pro-league seasonal playoff system, a deep story as told across novels. Planned virtual goods players can buy, sell and trade. Together, we are making a thrilling prototype drawn from our design, our lore and our characters, all built on this beautiful Unreal Video Game Engine.
