Today I installed Unreal Engine on my PC and EpicGamesLauncher doesn’t start. Error message is: “Application was unable to start properly (0xc000007b)”.
I am assuming have you already taken a look at our ‘Launcher Troubleshooting Guide’ already, since you provided us with your ‘dxdiag’ as requested in the guide?
Let me know if you solved your issue or if you still need further help.
Error 0xc000007b is an application error code on Windows that appears when a program fails to launch or run. This is generally encountered when an application tries to open on a computer that’s missing important components or runtime files. We have had users encounter this issue before with the Epic Games Launcher, and unfortunately it can be difficult to identify exactly which runtime files your computer may be missing or have corrupted (example: Error Running Launcher (0xc000007b) - Getting Started - Unreal Engine Forums). I suggest reviewing this post, because although we were unable to resolve that particular user’s issue, we did provide suggestions which often do help, such as reinstalling Service Pack 1. If you are unable to come to any solutions, you are welcome to provide logs from Dependency Walker as suggested, and we can try to investigate. As mentioned though, these issues don’t originate from the Launcher software, but from missing or corrupted files on your system.
I ran DependencyWalker and it seems some libraries are missing. I can try downloading them from internet but I’m not sure if its best way to solve this. They are propably part of some bigger package but I dont know which one.
