LaserScan does not create Mesh

Hi,

I was able to fix the import problem of the e57 by structuring the raw laser data in recap360.
Now the scan imports fine into RC and looks like this:

After I hit calculate model (normal detail) the screen looks like this:

I am at a loss. Basically the reconstruction took 1minute and nothing came out of it. Is there any thing that I did wrong? Or is it just impossible for RC to reconstruct huge buildings like this one (larger than 200m)? I actually bought RC to mesh laserscans and now I am a bit at a loss.

Please advise and thanks in advance

Hi Paulsen
Are you using Recap for all the laser-scan registrations ? Are they from Faro or Leica scanner ?

Hi,

first of all thanks for the quick reply. I am using Recap for all the LaserScans and the Scanner Company is Faro.

Edit: Maybe I should try to open the file as unregistered or draft register?

thanks

Hi Paulsen
No need. that’s not the problem…

Please open one laser scan in the 2D view and then change it to INTENSITY values

INTENSITY.png

and post the screenshot, so that I can see the INTENSITY channel

Hope this helps.

Hi Paulsen
Yes, that means data are OK…

Please go to RECONSTRUCTION->SETTINGS-> and make a screenshot so that I can see your settings used for reconstruction…

Hi,

I did not change any settings just pressed “Normal Detail” do you still need a Screenshot?

Hi Paulsen
Is it possible to get the E57 files ? are they exported by scan positions ?? 2 scans should be enough…

Hi,

sure - should I send you one or more lsp files? RC created them and I think they contain everything you would need.

Edit: I just send you three lsp files to your email adress. Please let me know if that will suffice.

thanks in advance

Hi Paulsen
For now no email received…

Please send me the original E57 files ( 1-2 scan positions ) as we need to look into the original data what is wrong there…

Please check if the email address is the right one…

Hi,

Does this problem solved ?
I have the same here :
I’m using a point cloud from a Leica, registred with Cyclone, but I only have the Recap file. So after exporting an e57 from Recap Pro, the import in RC is good (I see the 2D view in intensity values). Alignment is OK.

After I hit calculate model (normal detail) the screen looks like the attachment.

This Problem came from the Laser Scan because I have no problem with the photogrammetry. But I have the same with a cloud mixed (laser scan + photogrammetry, like on attachments).

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Guillaume BERSON

I’m using a point cloud from a Leica, registered with Cyclone, but I only have the Recap file. So after exporting an e57 from Recap Pro, the import in RC is good (I see the 2D view in intensity values).

So it was scanned with Leica laser scanner, registered in Cyclone and then imported in Recap ( for what reason ?? ) and exported from Recap in E57 fileformat ? So you have only Recap Export data ?

Hi,

Yes, it is exactly that. The finality of using Recap is to open points cloud on Autocad without Cloudworx. Curently I only have the Recap export data. But if it’s necessary I can ask for the Cyclone data…
