Laser Scanning

HI, need more info and tuts on just using laser scan data, and also stop referring to the photogrammetry process as ‘scanning’ just a bit of a bugbear from me , sorry, otherwise all great

im very used to using agisoft but am leaning toward this software, as it seems it can handle data a bit better, but its hard to follow the tutorials, when they are nearly all using photos. in my particular case, its a laser scan of a large mine, no colour, just intensity, so would be good to see more tutorials that cover terrestrial laser scans only, thanks

Hello DTMTECH,
Thank you for posting! I found the following tutorials that I hope will be helpful and insightful to you. If none of these work for you, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to assist you further.

Appreciate the help, thanks, i have seen all of these, my main issues i think is that I have inadvertently tried to do the whole process automatically, and the results, although great, have some issues, The scan is of an old mine, and is very large, 107 scans using a trimble x7 scanner, although lit somewhat, it was to dark for decent photos
1, the model keeps getting clipped, i have tried to change the boz, but still clipped
2, model always creates high rez model, 1 billion verts

question, if it wasnt clipped, would i best use the high poly model, and decimate in the software, if so, how, i have created a preview model, but that is too low in polies (5m)

any pointers appreciated, am just waiting for this one to save before trying to do the whole process manually (i think)
many thanks
Alan

think i have it now, now i look at it, its no so dissimilar in workflow, just with a lot more options
